Music Video
This is one of my major projects I have created this year. The music video is starring my brother Michael Gates and directed by myself. Let me know what you think.
News Package
My news package was created in 2008 during the christmas period. It was part of my live Television show at college. My roles were camera operator throughout the show. This news package gave me the chance to do a bit of reporting in and around Crawley.
Experiemental
I will start with my very first piece of experimental film. This was one of my first video productions. It was created 2007 on my first year of the BTEC National Diploma in media production, at Central Sussex College. The idea was to create a video no longer than 7 minutes that was experimental. Let me know what you think.
Personal Statement
Personal statement
I first became interested in the media industry when I began studying the subject at GCSE level. I learned that every day we are all involved or connected with the media. For example, the radio when I wake up in the morning, the news on TV. It is everywhere. It made me realise how powerful the media is. I am intrigued by how the audience can be controlled and what effect this has. A degree in the subject would enable me to gain a deeper understanding and obtain the full knowledge and skills I would need to pursue a career in the industry.
I have been learning about the various areas of media. I studied it at GCSE level. My first camera production was to make a horror trailer, which sparked my interest for film. I also covered television news programmes, advertising and the history of popular music magazines. I obtained a B grade.
Currently, I am working towards a BTEC National Diploma in Media Production at Central Sussex College. I am particularly interested in Radio. I created and produced a live radio and television show which gave me the chance to show off my presenting skills with creativity and flair. For this I won the best radio/audio project of the year at my college awards ceremony.
I very much enjoy film and have studied it further through work experience. I was recently involved in a short film that was entered into a competition for Gorezone magazine. As well as putting my camera skills to the test, it also gave me the opportunity to star in the film. Taking part in this production on set, made my experience and passion for film grow. I am especially looking forward to making a music video as it will combine two of my favourite hobbies. As a visual learner I lean towards the artistic side of media. With film I can see the scenes in my mind and then put them in a production. I feel that this is my best area. However I believe that I have great potential and would excel in both the areas of film and radio.
In my spare time I enjoy going to music festivals and gigs with family and friends. I also enjoy horse riding and belly dancing. For the last two years I have done the Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research and will be running again in 2009. I am currently waiting to hear about a work placement at my local hospital radio station. In the meantime I am working in my local shopping mall as an elf in Santa’s Christmas grotto. Next year I plan to scuba dive as I am interested in this activity and hope to travel to new countries. I am an active person and like to do practical tasks.
I want to go to university because I believe it will be a fantastic new experience. I will meet new people and study media in another environment. This will not only make me a more confident person, but will also further my education.
